What we collect
Nothing you enter into a calculator. There is no account system, no email capture, no contact form and no server that receives your inputs. Every computation happens locally in your browser, using JavaScript that was delivered with the page.
What is measured is traffic: which pages people open, roughly where in the world they are, and what kind of device they used. That runs through Google Analytics, described below.
Local storage
Each calculator saves your last inputs in your browser's localStorage so you do not have to retype them on your next visit, and your light or dark theme choice is stored the same way. This data:
- Stays on the device you used, in that browser only
- Is never transmitted to us or to anyone else
- Is not readable by other websites
- Disappears when you clear site data for this domain
It is a convenience feature, not tracking. If you would rather nothing persisted, a private browsing window prevents it.
Cookies
MrScooty sets no cookies of its own. Google Analytics sets two — _ga and _ga_<id> — which give a returning browser a random identifier so repeat visits are not counted twice. They expire after two years, and blocking them in your browser breaks nothing on this site.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which calculators people actually use. That decides what gets built next, and it is the only reason it is here.
What Google receives on each page view:
- The page address, its title and the referring link
- An approximate location, derived from your IP address
- Device, browser, operating system and screen size
- The cookie identifier described above
What it never receives is anything you type into a calculator. Those values stay in the page and are not sent to Google or to us. Google acts as our processor for this data and also uses it under its own terms; their privacy policy covers that side.
To opt out, block cookies for this domain, use a content blocker, or install Google's official opt-out browser add-on. The calculators work exactly the same either way.
Advertising
There is none. No adverts, no affiliate links, no remarketing pixels, and nothing on this site is for sale.
Hosting and server logs
Serving a web page necessarily involves your browser making a request, and hosting providers keep standard technical logs — typically IP address, timestamp, requested URL and user agent — for security and reliability. Those logs are not used to identify individuals and are never combined with anything you type into a calculator.
Third-party requests
Fonts, images and every other asset are served from this domain. The one external request a page makes is to Google Analytics, on googletagmanager.com and google-analytics.com. Links to other sites are ordinary links; once you follow one, that site's own policies apply.
Children
The site is a general-audience reference tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Data protection law gives you rights over personal data an organisation holds about you — access, correction, deletion and objection among them. We hold no account or contact records, so the only data in scope is what Google Analytics gathers, and the opt-out above stops that at source.
Local storage can be cleared at any time from your browser settings, without asking us. For anything else, write to hello@mrscooty.com and say what you want removed.
